Take a stroll through a blast from the past at the St. Louis Renaissance Festival. Starting September 16, travel the 16th century fairgrounds in Wentzville.
Ever wondered what it would be like to explore a French village in the 16th century? Look no further than the 2017 St. Louis Renaissance Festival. Held again at the Wentzville Rotary Park fairgrounds, the festival returns this year better than ever.
For five weekends starting on September 16, the festival will host shows, jousting tournaments, and sword fighting. A variety of vendors will sell their wares from the era. This includes clothing, jewelry, swords, hats, cups, glassware, and anything else you can think of.
Food and drink vendors will be on site. For those over 21, each weekend offers a pub crawl through the festival grounds. Mermaid Cove will return from last year where it made its debut. Each weekend has a different theme with related events. See the list below for all of the themes and related events:
Highland Fling (Sept. 16-17)
Starting with a Scottish theme, this weekend will include a kilt competition and a keg toss.
High Seas Adventure (Sept. 23-24)
In lieu of the Pirate Fest, the RenFaire will offer a weekend dedicated to talking like a pirate, along with a pirate costume contest.
Pet Fest (Sept. 30-Oct. 1)
Make sure to bring your dogs out for this weekend! There will be a dog costume contest and a trick competition.
Oktoberfest (Oct. 7-8)
An appropriate theme for the first full October weekend, there will be a stein holding competition, sauerkraut eating contest, and a beard competition among other activities.
Sweet Endings (Oct. 14-15)
The final weekend is always bittersweet, but this one focuses more on the sweet with a chocolate pie eating contest and ladies shopping day.
Tickets start at $15.95 for adults advanced purchase. For more information, check out their website.
