Vote for your favorites at Square Off Pizza Festival on the Hill.
The Hill, home to some of St. Louis’ best Italian restaurants, is hosting the first annual Square Off, an event to determine once and for all who’s got the best pizza in town. The winning pie earns the title “Best St. Louis Style Pizza” in addition to eternal pizza fame and glory.
St. Louis-style pizza has a thin cracker crust made without yeast and is topped with Provel and other cheeses. Will a true St. Louis-style pizza win? Or will an interloper Chicago-influenced pizza of thicker crust and other cheeses steal the title of Best Pizza?
A portion of Square Off proceeds will benefit Hill 2000, the neighborhood association of The Hill neighborhood of St. Louis.
In addition to the pizza competition, live music, local retailers, activities for kids and food sampling of popular St. Louis dishes will also be part of the festival.
Square Off will take place on October 8 in Berra Park at Macklind and Shaw from noon to 5:00 p.m., rain or shine. Tickets cost $25 and include admission, a pint of beer (or non-alcoholic beverage) and a square piece of pizza from each vendor in the competition. Voters will determine the 2017 Pizza Square Off champion.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and are limited. Square Off organizers cannot guarantee entrance into the event without a ticket bought in advance. Kids under 12 get in free, but pay per slice. Parking and tickets will be limited. Click here for more information about St. Louis Square Off and click here to buy tickets.
